The South Pacific Tourism Organisation would like to congratulate Mrs. Judith White of Direct Accommodations, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, USA as the winner of the South Pacific Specialist Fiji Famil Competition.

The South Pacific Specialist Programme is SPTO’s accredited online training aimed at upscaling   travel agents with accurate, reliable and quality information on the diverse tourism products and services available throughout the Pacific Islands. This enables travel agents to better capture the true value of Pacific tourism and its uniqueness when packaging and marketing the Pacific as a travel and tourism destination.

“We are delighted to offer this 8 night famil prize to Mrs. White of USA. Our travel agents are at the front line of sales to our broader global market and having them go through accreditation enhances their knowledge of the Pacific Island products they’re selling. We look forward to welcoming her to the beautiful islands of Fiji” said SPTO CEO, Chris Cocker.

Mrs. White is excited and honoured to have this opportunity to visit the Fiji Islands. This will be her first time traveling to Fiji and the Pacific. The Pacific has been a place that she has always wanted to visit.

“Fiji is on my bucket list and even more so after doing the training. Given the opportunity to experience Fiji first hand would definitely help me sell the destination better to my clients” added Mrs. White.

She also adds that taking the training allowed her to learn more about the region and how each island is unique. It has also given her a better understanding of what is available and how to tailor packages for specific Pacific Islands.

“In the June quarter of 2018, tourist arrivals to Fiji, the top leading destination in the region strengthened by 1.4% to 212,478 against quarter two in 2017 and outperformed the same quarter in 2016 by 10.9%. Fiji is an ideal destination for our Specialists to visit and experience first hand the properties that contribute to Fiji being the top leading destination in the region” added Mr Cocker.

The competition which began on October 11th and ended November 16th, was open to all travel agents and all those who are currently enrolled in our specialist training program.  A total of 221 agents were registered and 49 certified during the month of competition.

The South Pacific Specialist Program currently has 555 certified South Pacific Specialist agents across the globe mainly from Australia, New Zealand, Europe, United Kingdom, China, Korea, India and United States.

Agents were encouraged to enter the competition simply by learning and gaining knowledge about the 16 Pacific Island destination through the Specialist online program. The Chief Executive Office Mr. Chris Cocker chose the winner from a random draw of entries at the SPTO boardroom.

SPTO would like to thank all the entrants for participation. Stay tune for our next South Pacific Specialist competition that is coming soon in January 2019.
