An Australian tour company has completed the first traverse of Papua New Guinea's second-highest mountain, in the hope of opening a new tourism experience in the rugged Highlands region. The Chief Executive of the PNG Tourism Promotion Authority, Jerry Agus, hopes trips like this will boost PNG's small tourism sector.

Air Niugini in partnership with PNG Tourism Promotion Authority organized a “ China Ready” workshop in Port Moresby on November 15th to train those in the tourism sector and to ensure that they are accredited and ready to take on Chinese tourists next year once Air Niugini commences direct flights to Shanghai.
