The Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) has awarded Tourism Research Officer, Koto Tamani, its Staff of the Year award in recognition of his outstanding contribution and service to SPTO in 2019.
Mr. Tamani started his career with the SPTO in 2012, when he joined the organisation as an intern working with the marketing, finance and communications teams. Following his internship for a year he was appointed Assistant Project Officer (May 2013 – May 2016) with the research and statistics division before moving to the Sustainable Tourism Development division as Tourism Planning Officer (May 2016 – October 2018). He has served as the Tourism Research Officer with the Research and Statistics division since November 2018.
“I was delighted to be informed that I was given this award and I am grateful and very humbled by the confidence and recognition of my work,” Mr Tamani said. I would also like to acknowledge the support that I have received throughout my career here at the SPTO.”
The staff of the year award is presented annually to the staff member who has provided the best service. This is based on assessment by the SPTO Management following the criteria of outstanding achievement on the job, exceptional contributions towards the effectiveness and efficiency of operations, outstanding service to other employees and visitors, social and extracurricular activities, personality and attitude.
Starting in 2016, the Pacific Tourism Organisation has recognized the commitment and service of its staff through this award which is donated by the CEO who said of the initiative, “The staff of the year award is an important way of recognizing that the greatest asset of an organization is its employees. The award is a small way of honoring and appreciating the efforts of our staff who have worked very hard throughout the year and contributed greatly to the overall work of SPTO. It is a tradition that we look forward to continuing at SPTO in the coming years”.
