Coinciding with the Mana Tiaki week from the 01st – 05th April, Cook Islands Tourism along with their partners will launch the Mana Tiaki Eco Certification as well as hold a Green Expo. This will be held at the Discover Marine and Wildlife Eco Centre in Arorangi on Wednesday 03rd April from 8:30am.

The Mana Tiaki Eco Certification (MTEC) is a joint project between the National Environment Service through the Ridge to Reef project, Te Ipukarea Society, Cook Islands Tourism Industry Council, and Cook Islands Tourism Corporation. MTEC is a set of standards that has been established to embed biodiversity considerations and basic conservation efforts into the operations of the Tourism Industry. Business operations that achieve Mana Tiaki Eco-Certification are rewarded with the recognition that this type of green accreditation can bring.

The purpose of the Green Expo is to showcase the suppliers and/or organisations who are supplying environmental products or services to their clients. This will help their clients such as the tourism operators to meet the set of standards set out in the Mana Tiaki Eco Certification which will essentially assist them with gaining their eco accreditation. There will be eight vendors on the day to talk about their eco-friendly and bio-degradable products and services.
