Solomon Airlines is seriously looking at making Honiara and beyond more accessible for New Zealanders, initially through new codeshare agreements and partnerships says the airlines manager commercial, Colin Sigimanu.
He says the long term aim is to have Solomon Airlines metal flying into Auckland but that is likely to be a few years away and will depend on improved infrastructure in the Solomons.
‘Initially it is more likely to have the IE code from Auckland through to Honiara, working with Qantas to Brisbane. But we are also looking at Vila as a transit point. We are considering all synergies to make it easier to travel between Solomon Islands and New Zealand and grow the market through Auckland.
‘It is important to us because we also have a lot of Solomon Islanders travelling as seasonal workers and students to New Zealand.
