Cook Islands Tourism would once again like to wish The BCI Opera in Rarotonga a very happy 10th birthday.
This outstanding event which is the artistic product of Motone Productions was a great success! With a series of “Popera’s” (Pop-up opera’s), workshops in schools, a family performance under the domes and an intimate show at Coastal Kitchen, Rarotonga was wowed by the calibre of talent from all over the South Pacific.
It was great to see local singers; Ridge Ponini and Keani Taruia-Pora, return to perform for their people. This year’s opera saw 500 in attendance at the family event, 230 attendees at Coastal Kitchen and was also streamed to up to 7000 people.
Glenda Tuaine, from Motone Productions, said it was the best year they have seen yet and is proud to announce that Opera in Rarotonga will be able to extend to Tahiti in 2020. Stay tuned for next year’s events and updates here.
