A friendly Cook Islands welcome from Danika Cooper and Nicola Brent

Yoga on a stand up paddle board, getting dirty on a Raro Buggy Tour, and travelling around restaurants by tuk tuk were just a few of the activities promoted to travel agents and corporate meeting and incentive organisers at the Love a Little Raro / Aitutaki evening in Auckland this week.

Cook Islands Tourism, accommodation providers and other suppliers were emphasising what’s new and exciting in the destination, highlighting activities and events such as Round Raro (20 – 26 September), the Rugby 7s tournament for local and international teams (1 – 3 November) and BSP Netball in Paradise (28 November – 4 December).

‘One of the challenges we have is that consumers and agents are still asking ‘what is there to do?’,’ says Rachel Mackey, marketing manager New Zealand with Cook Islands Tourism Corporation. ‘But there is so much to do, on the land and in the lagoon.’

Mackey says that in the last three years, particularly, plenty of new options have been developed for agents to promote and sell on the destination. This includes sea scooters and the availability of e-bikes.
